The three layers of light
Every well-lit room combines at least two of the three layers:
- General light: even illumination of the whole room — ceiling LEDs, recessed downlights, indirect wall profiles.
- Accent light: highlights one element (artwork, stone wall, niche) — adjustable spots, LED strips, track lights.
- Task light: provides illumination for an activity (cooking, reading, working) — under-cabinet lights, architectural lamps, reading sconces.
