Security cameras in Luxembourg: discreet, sharp and CNPD-compliant

A well-placed camera deters, documents and reassures — provided it frames the right area, still sees at night and complies with the GDPR. We design, cable and commission your CCTV and hand it over with its compliance kit.

We answer the phone in under 2 minutes, day and night.

With CCTV, the hard part is not fixing a camera to a wall. It is complying with the Luxembourg GDPR rules (CNPD), choosing the framing, guaranteeing a usable image in low light and storing footage securely. Those four points are how an installation is judged.

In a home we favour discreet equipment: a small camera under the eaves, a video doorbell at the entrance, a swivelling indoor camera. In a shop or office the priority becomes covering entrances, tills and stockrooms, with staff properly informed.

What we install

Fixed or dome IP cameras, video doorbells, indoor cameras, a local NVR or encrypted cloud recording, viewing from your smartphone. Every project starts with a placement plan: which entrances to film, at what height, with which privacy masks to exclude the street and the neighbours.

  • House and flat: video doorbell, entrance camera, terrace or garage camera, live view in the app within seconds.
  • Shop, restaurant, workshop: tills, stockroom, delivery access, with signage and a record of processing.
  • Apartment building: lobby, bike room, car park, agreed with the managing agent and residents.

GDPR and CNPD: what we hand over with every installation

Since 25 May 2018 no prior CNPD authorisation is required to install cameras. What the GDPR does require: a record of processing activities, signage at every filmed entrance (CNPD model available), cameras framed so they capture neither the public road nor the neighbours (privacy masking), no audio recording, and limited retention — 8 days as a rule, 30 days maximum where justified. On business premises, Art. L.261-1 of the Labour Code also applies (informing staff and the staff delegation). Every installation is handed over with its compliance kit: sign, template record, retention period configured.

We have summarised the CNPD guidelines (updated 10 April 2024) in a practical guide to CCTV rules in Luxembourg: field of view, signage, record of processing, retention, employees.

Equipment: IP, PoE, recording

Technically we use Hikvision, Dahua and Ubiquiti UniFi Protect — 4K, 30 m IR, IK10 anti-vandal, recording on local NVR or encrypted cloud. PoE power so each camera needs a single cable. The cameras run over the same network cabling as your RJ45 outlets: one rack, one point of contact.

A camera is only useful if the image is readable: we check the night rendering, the backlight at the entrance and face legibility at the real distance before signing off the placement.

Access control & intercoms

We complete security with IP video door stations (Hikvision, 2N, Comelit) that open from a smartphone, RFID badges for office buildings, biometric readers for sensitive zones.

Cameras and alarm: together or separately

Cameras show, the alarm warns. The two complement each other: when the alarm triggers, video verification lets you check what is happening before calling anyone. If your first need is to detect an intrusion, see our intrusion alarm page; both systems can share the same cabling and the same app.

Our step-by-step method

  1. Site visit and placement plan

We identify entrances, blind spots and GDPR constraints, then draw the placement with you.

  2. PoE cabling

One network cable per camera, run discreetly, connected to the rack or the NVR.

  3. Mounting and adjustment

Fixing, framing, privacy masking, night and backlight tests.

  4. Commissioning and compliance

App set up on your phones, retention period configured, signs and template record handed over.

Frequently asked questions

How does CCTV stay GDPR-compliant?

Four points: (1) no prior CNPD authorisation since 2018, but a record of processing activities; (2) mandatory signage at every filmed entrance; (3) retention of 8 days as a rule, 30 days maximum where justified; (4) field of view limited to your own property, with no audio recording.

Can my cameras film the street or my neighbour’s garden?

No. The field of view must stay within your property: we aim the cameras accordingly and enable privacy masking on any overlapping area, which is checked at commissioning.

Can I watch my cameras on my phone?

Yes: the NVR or cloud app gives you the live view and access to recordings, with motion notifications if you want them. We set it up on your devices at handover.

Do you work for businesses too?

Yes: shops, workshops, offices, warehouses and restaurants across Luxembourg. For tertiary sites we also offer access control and centralised supervision, together with the CNPD compliance kit (signage, record of processing).

Does each camera need its own cable?

Yes, but only one: with PoE the same network cable carries power and video. Existing RJ45 outlets can often be reused.
